Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
FamilyMed Guard ("the App") is a medication tracking and reminder application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information stored on your device
All data you enter into the App — medication names, dosage strengths, stock counts, low-stock thresholds, daily reminder times, dose-taking history, patient names, and medication photos — is stored only on your device in the App's local database. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.
2. Features that contact external services
The App includes two optional features that communicate with external services:
- Safety Check: When you run the "Check FDA Safety Database" feature, the App sends the name of a medication you entered to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) OpenFDA API to check for warnings, interactions, and recalls. Only the medication name is sent.
- OCR prescription scanning: When you scan a prescription label, the App may use on-device text recognition. Images are processed on your device and are not uploaded unless otherwise stated.
3. Permissions
The App requests the following permissions, used only for their stated purpose:
- Camera: To photograph or scan prescription labels. Photos are stored locally on your device.
- Notifications: To show medication reminder and low-stock alerts at times you have set.
- Exact alarms (Android): To deliver reminders at the precise time you scheduled.
4. No data collection or sharing
The App does not collect, store, or share personal information with third parties. There are no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the App.
5. Data deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the App from your device, or by removing individual medications inside the App. Uninstalling the App permanently removes all stored data.
6. Children's privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
